Car bomb blast in Ghazni. 14 killed, 200 injured. Afghanistan Army killed 65 Taliban Terrorists

Taliban Terrorists killed at least eight security personnel and six civilians in a car bomb attack in Ghazni Province, Afghanistan. Nearly 200 people were wounded – including 60 children attending classes in a private school near the blast site.

Afghan officials said the bomb targeted the country’s main intelligence unit, National Directorate of Security (NDS).

The Taliban Terrorists claimed responsibility for the attack.

The blast in a crowded area of Ghazni city was the latest in a wave of near-daily attacks by the Taliban that now holds sway over about half of Afghanistan besides continuing to intensify attacks on Afghan forces despite increased US efforts towards a peace agreement to end the 18-year war.

The attack comes as an all-Afghan two-day conference that includes the Taliban begins in Doha in an effort to find an end to Afghanistan’s relentless wars.

Aid group Save the Children denounced the attack.

“This is simply unacceptable and we urge all armed groups in Afghanistan to think of future generations and stop the killing and maiming of innocent children,” said its country director Onno van Manen in a statement.

“Children did not ask for this war. They should not be paying the ultimate price for it. It’s time to stop the war on children.”

President Ashraf Ghani in a statement condemned Taliban car bomb blast in Ghazni, and said Taliban is holding talks in Qatar but “they stain their hands with the blood of innocent people in Afghanistan every day”

US Special Envoy Zamay Khalilzad in a tweet condemns the car bomb blast as “horrific attack” by the Taliban in Ghazni, Afghainistan in which almost 50 school children were wounded. He says it is unfathomable to endanger children in this way.

Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah in a statement condemned the Taliban attack in Ghazni and said “terror and violence” cannot affect Afghans’ will (for peace) and that “there is no place for an Islamic emirate and extremist approach in today’s Afghanistan”.
